Your Brand Photos are Not Just About You | Austin Brand Photographer

When we are planning for your branding photos, we want you to really consider who your ideal audience is and how you want to connect with them.

Your brand photos feel like they’re about you — especially when you’re the face of your brand or business— but they’re also not fully about you.

Branding photography is your chance to attract and repel — attract the type of audience you want to be working with and repel the ones you don’t. Brand photos create the chance for you to communicate with the people you most want to be reaching. So use your photos to speak directly to them.

You don’t want to be for everyone. If you’re speaking to everyone, then you’re reaching no one.

You want some people to land on your website and think, “it clearly feels like this is not the person/business for me.”

Consider this when you begin planning your personal brand photoshoot.

Highlight the things about you and your business that are unique to you —yes — but always do that with your customer in mind. Your brand photos are not about your favorite colors and all the things you like. Your photos should reflect an aesthetic and deeper value system that helps you resonate with your ideal customer and makes them feel like THEY are in the right place.

Think about who you want to connect with and ask yourself:

  • What does your target customer want to see?

  • What do they relate to?

  • What things resonate with them?

  • What deeper values do they care about?

  • What are their struggles and pain points that you can help alleviate?

  • How do we want them to feel when they come across your photos?

For this Austin Brand Photoshoot for Laura, a Reiki Healer, we kept Laura’s target audience in mind and spoke to feelings of peace, comfort, healing, and is drawing on feminine energy.

Looking through our in-studio branding photos, you will feel her warmth and quiet confidence. We crafted a visually safe space that lets the right viewer feel soothed and calm. The images are minimal and not overwhelming and the colors are not loud to feel almost meditative.

As a reiki healer, Laura is speaking to an audience who feels a spiritual calling and seeks the peace of nature and its amazing healing powers. Her Austin brand photoshoot feels organic and soothing and presents herself as a welcoming spirit.

And that’s the point. Your brand photos need to communicate a message to your audience — invite them in or send them away.

Use these questions to begin thinking beyond the things you like and towards what your ideal client would value.

How can you use your brand visuals intentionally to show your mission, convey value, and let people know if they’re in the right place?

Are you ready to use your personal brand photos to start communicating effectively with your dream audience?
